How can I fix my Blackberry Bold Facebook Application?

There was already a Facebook application pre-installed when I got my phone, but every time I click on it - it just takes me to the browser. I have internet on my phone, and I've tried re-installing one from Blackberry, but that one also says that I need a date package for it to work. It's confusing? Please help! Answers are greatly appreciated.
