- My handbrake slips down often when I pull up on it. It seemed like the notches on the handbrake were worn. So I tried taking off the console but could not figure out how to take off the shift knob. I yanked out the plastic air duct and could see the teeths of the handbrake and tried filing the notches to make it sharper but the metal was too hard or the my file was too old and soft. So I gave up... could you give any more advice?
