How can I FIRE the local Honda dealership?

I had a very frustrating experience this week at Honda-Covington. Found a great car (used) and was ready to buy. The sales person was nice enough and capable enough-- except when it came to giving me straight answers on the price. He always had to check with the "manager" (a.k.a. "Larry"). When they finally did provide a price, it was merely 10% off of the invoice (2 year old vehicle) and to add insult to injury they offered me about 30% of book value (as per Edmunds) on my trade in. What??? When I said to forget the trade in and asked if that was their best price on the used car-- they only seemed interested in getting me to price a new car. I walked. But not until they had wasted about 2 hours of my time...and left me vowing to never shop with them again. What options do I have???? I liked the car/model but can't imagine giving business to slimy people like that....

Hold on a sec...the dealer might not be so slimy after all! You are complaining because the dealer only took 10% off the sticker price of the vehicle...why should they sell it to you for less than they can sell it to someone else? And maybe your trade in isn't worth what you think it is.

It's still a free country. The dealer doesn't have to sell you anything!

Wait a few weeks, and then go back and buy the car. They'll be much more motivated to sell.

That is what ALL dealers do. The first time he goes to check with the "manager" tell him "look, I have x amount of money, if you can't give it to me for that price I'm going to go buy at the Toyota dealer." If they can't give a price you like, go elsewhere. You can't fire a dealer for negotiating.
