I recently made a project on wind energy using wind turbines over cars and producing electricity which can be used for its motion.(instead of highly polluted electricity coming from power plants) and bagged 1st prize at my college(although my presentation and communication skills helped me). the basic idea was that it will continue generating electricity 24x7 n will use whenever it is required.this will reduce the loss of electricity during transmission and obviously will promote green energy
initially i thought that when the car will be rotating it would allow turbine to rotate and hence the same energy will be used for motion.however later i found(on web) that such a model is not practically possible according to laws of thermodynamics.
BUT THINK OF THIS-consider a IC engine car having a average( or fuel economy) of 12kmpl
suppose i put a wind turbine ( and other necessary components) on its top. Due to drag created by turbine , the average of car will reduce to 10 kmpl(assume).
but during this 10 km run the turbine will generate enough energy to run another 5 kms.
hence the overall average will be 15kmpl
isn't it possible? what do you think?
any other suggestions and ideas are warmly welcome.
