...programmer sharing/using the code? I need a small project done for my website and have a great idea for a Flash application.

The only thing is, nothing like it already exists and I want the application only on my website to promote a competitive advantage.

How can I take full ownership of the code and final product and ensure the programmer doesn't use it for himself, or sell the application to my competitors?

Thanks very much,

Jon.

PS. If anyone is interested in taking this job and can demonstrate that they will adhere to the above requirements then please let me know.

It involves generating a random number that triggers recorded audio files to speak the generated number (of course there's more to it, but that's the basic premise).

Should take one or two days to complete if you know what you are doing. If you're interested please msg me and we can negotiate a price. Thank you.

If you are looking for contractors, try http://www.rentacoder.com or http://www.elance.com

Their standard agreements require all code to be turned over at the end of a project.

Otherwise, have your attorney draft an agreement to the end you desire. It's not sufficient to use "generic" contracts because work for hire laws differ between states.

As a practical matter, there are a finite number of ways to accomplish most programming tasks, and only so many ideas out there. It may well prove that whatever you want done is common, has been done before, or can only be done in a given way, which would pretty much make your exclusivity demand moot.

Finally, it's against the Community Guidelines to solicit for any purpose.

Get your attorney to create a contract that specified that you own the code he creates, including the source code, and you own the copyright, and explicitly prevents him from using the code, keeping a copy of the code or sharing it with others. Then get your programmer to sign the contract.
