How can i dye these black shirts?

Okay so i have a lot of cool black shirts with designs like skin shirts volcom hurley etc. But they are all faded. i was wondering if i buy black dye and throw them in a bucket inside out it will work? will it mess up the designs on it? that's mainly my question. will the designs get ruined? Can someone tell me how to dye them the right way? and what dye to use? THANK YOU!!!
