How can I decorate guest tables at a buffet style wedding?

Since there are no plates or utensils at the guest tables, how can I make them look less bare? There will be floral centerpieces, confetti and maybe some candles. We are considering renting cloth napkins and folding them nicely in the spot where the plate would have been. Could we also put out the guest favors, or do they have to be on a separate table by the door?

I don't really care about "following the rules" so much, but I'm just looking for some ideas. Thanks so much!

Place the utensils at the table setting instead of up at the buffet. Provide linen napkins, set everything up properly. Provide nice glasses and stemware. Include centrepieces, and a table runner if you wish. Guest favours will dress things up too.
