Hi everyone!
I am a vegan and when I cook tofu or do a stir fry I always use, olive oil, or peanut oil, and sometimes walnut oil.
I just recently read where these so called "good Oils" really aren't that good for you (?)
I am not sure I totally believe that but......How can I cook say, a stir fry with out oil?
What do I use instead?

Thank you!

The only way "good oils" can be bad for you is if you heat it up past what it can handle. Heat up your oil..peanut, olive, whatever you use, and graduatly continue heating it until it smokes, that's when it's heated beyond it's heat point...when it gets that far, let me just say you don't want to bother using it anymore. You wont get sick or anything, but it's very very unhealthy. Peanut oil usually can handle high heat, olive medium [i use it almost daily so i'd know lol]. Using something other then oil...that's vegan, ahh well i'm pretty sure you can use some sort of juice from fruit or vegetables [press the fruit/veggies to get the juice out, no pulp/fiber] and stir fry it in that. I'm pretty sure it'll taste different [lets just say interesting] but it might taste good, give it a shot if you wish. [I've seen grape juice marinades, to cook veggies..yumm]

Vegetable Stock will work.

Ginger Ale makes a great stir fry companion. The gingery the better!

The fat of oil will help to crisp the outside of the food, so you might get a bit more mushy to the overall texture, but it will be good.

Apple Cider is good too.

Tahini (or sesame butter)

I like honey. I know that sounds funny, but it is very good as it melts and will be conduit for heat and combine food.

Most of the time fruit juices, prune, apricot, grape, and cranberry.. or any of the high anti-oxidant juices.

And, never forget vinegar. I often times use it.. but, we love it.

just dont add the oil, try keeping a cup of water and start adding water little by little.. i make chilly without the actual chillies.... just meat and beans with all the other stuff i use...

If you don't like using oil, then you should use lard to stir-fry your beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, turkey, or whatever else you may be stir-frying.

Lard is pretty much your only other option unless you want to use artificial crap.
