I cooked fresh Okra for the first time and it had a bitter taste. I have more Okra to cook. How can I cook it so that it doesn't taste bitter?
I boiled it.

Okra must be thin sliced before cooking. Then Okra should be fried until the sticky sap is fully cooked, before adding to other ingredients.

I prefer Okra 3 ways. Rolled in Cornmeal and fried hot oil. Fried without cornmeal and then used in scrambled eggs or omolets. And finally, Dilled Whole like Dill Pickles.

well you can try to fry them first or put them in the oven and add spices and tomatoes to them they taste good that way...

i don't know but if it is fried, it does not taste bitter to me. only i am still trying to find out how to get it not to look like snot on the inside when i cook it.

i know this will sound wierd but trust me...
get the whole okra(about 4 or 5) and put it in a bowl with about 1 tablespoon of water and 1 tablespoon of butter, salt and pepper. microwave for 2 minutes or less. its amazing!!!!!

add a pinch of sugar, if stewed w/ tomatoes or boiled.

or fry it w/ conrmeal crust.
