How can I convince my parents to buy me a phone I want?

I really wanted to get a new mobile because i'm going on holiday soon but my parents won't let me yet because its not my birthday yet. Any suggestions for trying to convince them without annoying them too much?

Earn the money and buy it yourself. Things are tough right now so don't pressure them into spending money on something so frivolous.
