How can I convert MS Word docs to html files?

I use SharePoint Designer, but the docs that were originally MS Word bring with it into SharePoint a lot of additional tags and things that are not html compliant. which editor can I use that will keep things like tables intact (Notepad doesn't) and end up with Html compliant code?
