ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? i want to connect my laptop and tv so that my desktop appears on the tv and i can contol it via wireless mouse. i have an hp windows vista laptop and a sharp HDTV. what would be the easiest and cheapest way to do this?
 
You need a jack to transfer info from yr computer to tv. Grab the manual for both and check out what is compatible for both. Take manualr with you to Radio Shack, Best Buy, WalMart... That way they know exactly what ya need and will hook you up. The cable itself is cheap, no more that 20bucks for top of the line. HAVE FUN GOING BLIND WATCHING THE BIG SCREEN ;)
 
Since you are being really vague on the details, I will try to think of many possibilities.

If your TV has a VGA input and your laptop has a VGA output, all you will need is a male to male VGA cord.

If your TV has a HDMI input and your laptop has a HDMI output, all you need is an HDMI cord.

If your TV has a DVI input and your laptop has an HDMI output, then all you need is an HDMI to DVI cord.

There are all sorts of possibilities, however, since you failed to specify your connections, I'm not going to waste my time to continue the list. Just see what connections you have, and see what cords are available to use them. Research is the answer.
