how can i change the color of my rug? can i paint it?

How about a LARGE area rug to cover most of it. If you want it dyed, I'd call a rug company to see if it can be done. It might be cheaper to replace it. Roxanne
 
You could dye it using Rit Dye BUT it probably won't come out like you want.
I dyed a new scatter rug dark brown by mixing the dye and hot water in a spray bottle and spraying it in the yard.
I tried doing an area rug the same way but it didn't turn out.
 
No paint. Roxanne has it right. It can be dyed - but should be done by a professional. Check your phone book listings for carpet cleaners, they often also dye carpet. Otherwise, it is best to get a large area carpet to put on top. Check overstock.com, they have a huge selection and shipping is only $2.95.
