First, put the tinfoil over the head.
Always with the tinfoil-
Alright, now that you're safe from the alien's influence...
You'll need, I'd think, to understand electronics.
The cell IS a transmitter, and you're wanting to use it - but question is to where?
Who will receive the transmissions?
One thought is that the cell UNadjusted is jut made to send to one place and since it's no longer active, it won't even do that
without______________________? and that is your question
seems very hard to me!

Perhaps your interest in transmitting might better be put into something that already does transmit, and will be received (you know, a short wave radio (transmits worldwide! and talk to other enthusiasts).
For this, google search 'shortwave radio' (I did and found a lotta good sites (havent explored them yet though) I'm hoping that I may have saved, however, somewhere where I can use the site as my radio (wouldn't that be great! (one said i could!)
Also, though ---shortwave is kind of near totally dead tech...
SKYPE is a great way to talk to people in many countries for free and with video!

BUT, having said all that, what if ur interest IS just about the electronics...mmm, lots of books m'lad. Lots of studying about transmitters and computer electronics
Might be rather fascinating to be able to do. Have fun! Wish I could be more specific

Ooh! (when I was a kid, I opened up an oldfashioned AM Radio, and just stuck a wire into the copper-winds antenna you find inside, and I ran that antenna all around the top of my room
I then took a screwdriver and started adjusting things that I didnt even know what they were!

(((it was the 70's ...tech was a LOT simpler, then))) and this blind tinkering created me a short wave radio for free
I'd sit up nights listening to transmissions from Ecuador and Australia and Russia and Everywhere!!
(The interesting stuff is if you go to NASA's site, they'll tell you what frequency to tune to to hear astronauts on shuttles))
I also got to overhear some juicy conversations from the cellphone next door! (three teen girls talking about their bf's and what undies, and THE MOTHER (ooh what she did to her pool table, i dont think i can say on YA !
I had fun with radio! You can too. Bye
