...education degrees? in California they dont offer undergraduate education degrees, all the CSU and UC colleges only offer Masters Degree's in graduate. there is not Bachelors or Masters for undergrad. I do not feel it is necessary to get a masters and go to graduate school as it is not require, in California you only need a Bachelors degree to teach, so it would be a waste of time going to school for an extra four years. should i just major in a subject i want to teach instead?
im pretty sure by the time i graduate high school in 2013 and by the time i finish college in 2017, im sure this recession will be over and the job market will be more stable.
im a high school freshmen, im just researching. and im california you dont need a Master so its not really worth the extra time just for a lousy 1000 dollars extra pay per year. if i can teach after i get my undergrad with a Bachelors im fine. i know some schools might want you to take some extra classes and continue your education while on the job but thats something i can deal with after i get my first degree.
i think ill just stay in state and do a major in a subject like math that way i can get a teaching credential at my college and get my Bachelor's and it will be easier than moving out of state and paying more tuition or going for a Bachelors and then going back for a Master in education just to get the an elementary ed degree. if i get a Bachelor i can be certified to teach in a CA middle school or High School, so it would be the same, only i wouldnt be teaching little kids and i would only be doing one subject.
my 7th grade Math teacher did this.
i like your ideas but if i can get a teaching position by majoring in math or biology or something like that i can get a single subject credential and teach a single subject at a higher level school other than elementary so why bother trying to go back for a elementary school degree in graduate school if i can teach either way? but their both great ideas and i appreciate your help.

In most of the United States, you will need a master's degree to teach- eventually. It is only 2 years plus student teaching of you do not major in elementary education in undergrad. Get a degree in psychology, reading, english, early childhood studies, history, math or communication. Then go to Grad school for 2 years. OR- go out of state to a college that has elementary education as an undergraduate degree and apply for financial aid or scholarships to pay the out of state tuition difference. You may want to dual major in elementary ed and spanish, elementary ed and reading, or elementary ed and special education. It is very tough to get a teaching job since more people who have been laid off during this economic time have gone back to school to become certified to teach. You will need all the help you can get. Go dual major out of state- then grad school. You'll make more money that way too.
