My friends tell me that whenever I communicate with stupid people, I begin to talk slowly and verify the intellectually challenged person's knowledge of elementary facts.
It is not my intention to lower my level when talking to these people, but if I spoke to them as equals I would need to repeat myself several times and this would be insanely frustrating.
