how bad is it to run amp not stable at 1 ohm at 1 ohm?

i have a kicker zx750.1 car amp. i have read that this amp is not stable at 1 ohm, but before i knew too much about electronics, i ran my setup at 1 ohm. i had it like that for about 2 months, and nothing ever went wrong. both the speakers and the amp are still working.

my question is, what does "not stable" mean? does it mean the amp will overheat, and possibly blow? because mine never did (although i only had it turned up about a third max). basically, what possible outcomes might occur if i did run my amp at 1 ohm?

my reason for asking is because i no longer have my system hooked up, and my friend has 2 DVC Kicker CVR 4ohm subwoofers. i know i can only run them at either 4ohms or 1ohm. but at 4 ohms, the zx750.1 only has 375 rms, which is not enough potential for the subs. im wondering if i can run the subs at 1 ohm, and just not turn the amp up too much.
