Mine's working fine. And yes any cool phone will be replaced by a cooler phone in less than 3-6 months. You gotta look at your wallet and decide what you can afford. I bought the E-62 hoping it will be a long termer, at least 18-24 months.
I've unbranded my E62, though (http://symbianguru.typepad.com/welcome/2006/12/finally_a_java_.html) and it works great. Love it. it's slightly larger than say the blackjack, but it's freakin beautiful for data/browsing.
I've only had it for about 2 months and I love it. I like S60 3rd ed. MUCH more than winmo. I hope I don't have to go back. IMHO the keybord is the best out there. I tested the web browser on the e62 (cingular gprs) vs the treo 700wx (sprint evdo) side by side and my e62 beat the treo out by about 20-30 seconds on a page load of abcnews.com (not sure how that happened but was happy when I saw that). I do get the white screen due to lack of operating RAM but that doesn't happen more than once every 10 days or so (it wouldn't happen at all if I turned my phone off every day. There may be a slight memory leak somewhere). Finally and probably most importantly, call quality and battery life are also probably best among smart phones.
Take what I say with a grain of salt though...I am a slight Nokia fanboy.
i bought mine the day after they came out on cingular.com and i havent had any problems so far, i recently unbranded it. i rarely get the white screen, i just make sure that i exit a program when im done with it.
