u mean genetically modified crops.....The GM crops are made to improve the quality of crops by inserting a gene that is responsible for the superior quality or by altering the already existing gene.....they are made by 2 ways
either by mutation(alteration of genes) or recombination(insertion of genes)....mutation is not stable one to refer bcoz the chances of gene modification is just a matter of probability in this case. hence recombinant DNA technology can be much preferred.

We insert the gene of interest into the the plant so that the plant express it and aquire super qualities llike resistance high productivity etc...
