how are atheists demonized in the media?

i asked this earlier with not so nice results...so im going to reword the question...sorry if i insluted anyone last time, i didn't mean what it looked like. this is what i REALLY was asking:

im going a school report on "othering" or "stereotyping" atheists in the media...books, movies, tv, etc. do you know of an example of this stereotyping that you would recomend me using for my project? religion is a sensitive topic, i don't want to offend anyone. so no hate comments please, from either side of the spectrum.

i also am planning on using a song by Marylin Manson. can anyone recomend one of his songs that represents this stereotype best? the only requirement is that there is limited language or preferably no language.

list specific examples...don't tell me about how the conservatives do this and blah blah blah! i want specific names of "texts!"

please understand im an atheist myself...sorry about the wording of the last question. i didn't think people would go a-wall because they don't understand how to read correctly haha.
um...i need examples. no matter which "side" you are on. maybe demonized isn't the right word, but seriously, it's midnight, im really tired, and quite frankly you should be able to understand the point of the question.
haha mitchell, like i said, now its 12:30, and im not in the mood for using proper vocabulary! i had a swim meet a few hours ago, im WIPED, but i can't go to bed until i find some examples of this...besides i feel like innapropriate vocab is like rebelling against my english teacher in a way...since its his stupid fault im only getting 4 hours of sleep tonight!
ok fine, even if they aren't "demonized" they are STEREOTYPED. which is what im going for. no one has seen a movie or read a book where we are put in a bad light?

all I can say is Corey's answer is beyond more than enough you need to know

it is exactly what I see in this section everyday except worded in ways I can't intelligently describe.... awesome answer dude, I'm bookmarking that link

You are going to have a hard time gathering info on your question because the fact is that the media doesn't demonize atheists. In fact, most media participants are probably atheists or agnostics themselves. God and His followers are not very well treated by the media in general. More often than not, stories reflect a built-in bias against those who are spiritual and believe in the supernatural. Not anything harsh or overt, but sort of a "lets not take this stuff too seriously folks" type of thing.

The conservatives you are referring to are actually a very small group of people who have no real claim to represent the majority of us who believe in God. They may claim to represent us, but they do not. I myself am a Bible-believing Christian, but I am not a right winger politically. Just as there is no stereotypical Christian or theist, there are no typical atheists either. There are many reasons people have for believing or not believing.

I honestly have never seen anything in the media that openly puts atheists in a bad light, or stereotypes them.
