How are animals trained to be in circus's/zoos?

im doing an argumentative essay for school and my essay is about
"Animals should not be used to entertain humans"
for example in circus' or rodeo's.

and one of my questions goes like this
"When animals perform for us in circuses it is because they have been trained to perform. However, how are they trained? "


Could you tell me how they are trained?
