My blood donor card says O-, but from everything I've read that could easily show up as the testing result if I have Bombay Blood type. My mom has always told me when I was born the doctor told her I have a very rare blood type, but she's never been specific, and there are 11 of us, so I don't think she'd remember now.
Since my mom has always said I have a very rare type, but my donor card just says O-, how and where do I get tested to see if my O- is actually Bombay Blood type? Is this free? If not, will insurance cover it? Can I just walk into the doctors/hospital and say "Hey, check this out."?
