9 days: This photo shows the baby panda born in July 2005 when he was about 9 days old. Panda cubs are born weighing about a quarter of a pound. They are blind, have none of the black and white hair they are famous for and can fit in an adult's hand. This cub would later be named Tai Shan.

About 6 weeks: The male panda cub weighed in at 4.2 pounds and was 17 inches long when vets examined him on August 18, 2005. At this point, the panda still doesn't have teeth.

Almost three months: The giant panda cub seemed tired after getting some vacinationsrests after its second vaccination. At almost three months old, the cub weighed 11 pounds and was almost 25 inches long.

One year old: Tai Shan got his name, which means Peaceful Mountain when he was 100 days old. Here, just shy of his first birthday, he lounged in the outside part of the zoo's panda habitat. Tai Shan is now living in China, but the zoo and Washingtonians, now have another panda cub to watch grow up.
