Well, I talked about how I was looking forward to this at the rabroad blog's spring preview, so suffice to say that I'll be trying this right away. This block has brought us some great shows over the years too (Eden of the East, Honey and Clover, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, and more), so hopefully this is the start of a beautiful frienRABhip for FUNimation and Fuji TV.

That was...odd.

Not bad at all, it was very good, just...odd. It's a very quiet show which will instantly turn off a few people as well as the animation being pretty out there. I mean, usually, this is the kind of animation you'd see in a movie or an OVA or something, not really for a whole series. Whenever they close up on their faces, they look like frogs.

As for the show itself, it wasn't bad. I didn't understand what was going on at first but I gradually figured it out. I wasn't expecting any real sword action though so even though it was for a few minutes, having some was pretty sweet. The twist that Ichi was the bad guy (though, actually the good guy?) was cool. These guys sound kind of like Edo Robin Hood.

I don't like the OP video. It's kind of boring. The song is nice though. The ED rocks.

Oh and uh, "-de gozaru."

The artstyle is certainly different, but overall I'm glad I decided to give it a chance. I will definitely be watching more. Looks like it could be pretty good, IMO.

Didn't know this going into the series, so needless to say, I had to take a moment to squee excitedly

As for the episode, I'll say that I'm intrigued. The art style is definitely taking some getting used to and the story didn't move very fast (I checked the counter a few times to see how much time was left, though I was interested in what was going on). It was rather interesting to gradually watch the pieces come together to figure out what was going on.

I'll keep watching to see where this goes.

Oh, and the OP and ED were both pretty decent.

Everybody's saying good things about this show.

I have watched the first episode...the animation and story seem to be alright and pretty natural, but the eyes...THE EYES.

I'm finding relatable ground with the cranky bald guy who runs the restaurant, so I'll continue to give it a shot and see where they're going with his character.

I really enjoyed everything about this episode. This is one of the series I had wanted to watch the most out of the spring season, and it didn't disappoint. The art style is really something else too. Everything was so crisp and stylistic.

I can't help but be worried that this show will get axed. Besides the ratings fiasco with the first episode, slow shows like this are slow to grab the demographics. Well, we'll see.

-Today was fairly uneventful but it's odd that I can still be into the show without a lot of stuff happening. It's clearly the character interactions that make up the meat of this show and there are not even a ton of those. However, what is presented on the table for some reason just catches my attention and I think that each episode is nice to watch. I'm not exactly "dying" to catch the next one like some of the other spring shows.

-That being said, when the hostage rolled out of the basket on Ume's back, I had a good fit of giggles.

-Is it me or as I'm getting more used to the art style, Otake-san is getting kind of attractive....

Wow, even less happened in this episode, and yet I still like it. That's especially surprising considering the odd (to say the least) art style. Still, the characters and general premise are interesting enough to make the show worth watching. It's fun to watch how Masa gets dragged along in this business he wanted nothing to do with. Anime series don't tend to get canceled mid-season, but I doubt a second season is coming from this.

What ratings fiasco?

I take it you don't watch too many Noitamina shows, this pace is pretty much par for the course give or take a few series. I don't think they get "axed." In either case, it's only 12 episodes so I'll just enjoy it while it lasts.

Well I saw Library War, Nodame Cantabile EotE and Tokyo Magnitude so just going on that, I could see what they were trying to go for.

Ow, that's really unfortunate. The show has been nothing but quality, so far. Hopefully the ratings show some improvement as time goes on, but perhaps not. A shame, too since Noitamina usually has quality shows, it would be sad to see them have to cut back after being bumped up to an hour long block.
