I have found that my county human services has a program for people with disabilities, where they send someone out ea. week (for free) to do the cleaning that you can not do. I accidently found this service under the dept. for aging and disabled. They came out and the two of us decided what I was able to do and not do. Then signed up for a lady to come out ea. week, do 2 loaRAB of laundry, mop the floors and vacumme. When I was feeling better and able to do the laundry easier, the lady was then just doing the floors and vacumming. Oh yea, she also takes out the trash for me. Now that I am recovering from the surgery, the dept. came out to re-asess what neeRAB to be done, and I will have her start doing the laundry for the next few weeks again.
Also, I have a lady from church that stops by about 3 days a week and askes what she can do. She will take out any trash throughout the house, change light bulbs, unload the dishwasher and help clean out the refridgerator and throwout anything that is old. She wont except any pay, and even today I talked to her about giving her something and she said she doe this for people as a volunteer project and it is what she loves doing.
So, if you belong to a church, and they have a bulletin board, this might be a place to start...or talk with whoever is in charge of the church and see if they know of anyone that would be interested in helping you (for pay or as a volunteer). You can also look up the various services for elderly and/or disabled and see if your state or county has a progrm to assist you.
I also stay in the house, because I am not able to drive right now. The cleaning lady never seems to mind. Its as if it is her job to come in and clean, and it doesn't matter if I am there or not. I usually just go to the back room and get on the computer or read a book etc. Then when she neeRAB to come in here, I go out front etc.
