House Hunting

First of all, we kinda-sorta a suburb of D.C. At least, a lot of people commute from our tiny little town. So, houses, for the most part, are at least $200,000 if you don't want to live in the ghetto in a piece of shit. That's fine. I can hunt and track something acceptable down. Three bedroom townhouses seem right up our alley. So I request to see one. Evidently, they just closed contract a few days ago - the website was so totally not updated; it wasn't listed as closed or under contract or anything.

Secondly, I don't think anyone takes us seriously - looking for a 3 bedroom house for under $100K. I guess that's just not done around here. I'm sure it'll be even better when they see how young we are (especially since we both look to be about 19 - on a good day).

Stupid stupid stupid.

Luckily, J is up for a few raises and/or promotions in the next month or so..
 
My husband says I already cuss a blue streak so blue it turns purple. So I don't think *that's* an issue.

I also think I would look silly with a mustache and beard.. Maybe we could glue them on Jason.
 
It is so silly, that, probably it will work.

Did You ever try to use realtor? I met the previous home owners only once on settlement when I bought my house.
 
Have you looked into NEW condos at all?
I just got a GREAT deal.... right around your price range.... but I also don't know the cost of living around you.
This place is new, they covered all the closing costs and down payment, and even before all that it was cheaper than most places around here.

Just a recommendation :)
 
First of all, I don't even think there are any condos around here. Secondly, houses, on average for what we need (at least 3 bedrooms, because we plan on adding another kidlet sometime relatively soon), seem to run at least $150K if not $200K. (Like I said, we're pretty much a suburb of D.C., so we have a lot of the fairly well off living here and commuting, unfortunately.) Right now, it seems our best bet is a townhouse, which would be just fine with me. (Well, I guess those are somewhat condo-ish, come to think of it.) We'd want to move around the end of June, so now I just need to get a realtor to take me seriously and go from there.
 
Yeah!!! There are no THs in suburb of DC for $150,000. ... Of course ... You can find something ... but thus will be a shit-hole with bad neighborhood ... or ... it will be too far from DC, hour ... or two, or ... it will be old dead beef.

Well, luckily, we don't have to worry about commuting to D.C. And, we're far enough away to find a TH in our range, I think. One of my friends is supposed to be passing along the name of a realtor who isn't a douche, so we'll see how that goes.
 
As far as cost of living, Ohio's a pretty sweet place to live. For about the cost of houses in other states, you can get nearly a mansion in Ohio. Unfortunately the weather sucks 60% of the time, and the rest of the time it's perpetually overcast grey.
