Hotsync with 'old' PalmDesktop KO'd my new TX

Hi,

I seem to have destroyed my new TX by hotsync'ing with a PalmDesktop (Windows Vista Version) which I had for my old TE. I had some data files I wanted to transfer over, and I thought the TX would be compatible.

Now my TX can't:

1. Hotsync. It just resets. Black screen and starts over.

2. Let me see "Office Apps" or "Photos & Videos" from the links to these in "Favorites" I get this error message when I tap on the links "The application cannot be launched because it is missing localization information."

3. Some launch icons have gone, replaced by a blue circle with a pen. Tapping these gives the same error message.

4. Tapping the DocsToGo icon causes the TX to freeze, with a white screen. The only way out then is to reset.

What can I do to get things straight again?

Thanks,

Simon.

That sounds like an issue I've seen where one of the TX prefs files gets corrupted - I doubt it's a PC software compatibility issue, as I synched my TX for a couple of years with an earlier desktop software version (the T3 release, v4.1.4E) without problems.

However, it could well be you've synched over old Palm preferences that aren't TX-compatible, or that you've a corrupt DocsToGo prefs file. There's some info about how to fix either of those here:

Hi bryanb,

Thanks for the advice. After surfing around, the only way out of this problem that I've been able to discover is a ''factory reset.'' All is OK with mt TX now.

Later I'll try to beam the files I require over from my old E type, rather than try to HotSync them from the old one's PC backups as I did before.

Simon.
