I have a T2 & Windows XP - SP2. I've been syncing with no problems since last September when I got this laptop. All of a sudden last night I can no longer sync, either with the cradle or the minisync cable. When I try to hot sync I don't see anything come up on the computer screen. I hear an error sound from the computer & the T2 screen says "connecting with the desktop using cradle/cable". Noting happens when I tap on the cancel button - I have to do a soft reset to get out of it.
I've done a hard reset on the T2 - I've uninstalled & reinstalled the Palm desktop software & it doesn't change anything. The Hot Sync log shows the last time I synced successfully - no errors are listed. I've checked the Palm website & tried the suggestions there about deleting inf files, etc. I've looked through posts on the web, etc. I haven't installed anything new on the handheld or the computer since the last successful hot sync.
If anyone has any ideas or could tell me where else to look for help I'd really appreciate it.
Problem solved finally - after posting this I kept looking. The trick was to look in device manager while it was trying to sync - it showed up under "other devices", not in the USB device list. I was able to delete it, then with a restart the laptop saw it as new hardware & all is well.
