hot sync frustrations

Hello,

I am having trouble with my hot sync operation and am hoping someone can help. I have a Tungsten t3 and am using windows XP. I hit the hot sync button and it begins the process. I see a window open on XP Forwarding to JIM-58EOTT.....
The palm reads "synchronizing documents" for a while and then I get a message that the connection between palm and computer is not there (Though the computer recognizes the devise)
I reloaded software and get the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

The first thing to try is a soft reset of your Palm. If you still have the same problem, go to the hotsync icon in your system tray and right click. Choose Custom and then set any thirdy party conduit like Docs to Go to "Do Nothing" and try syncing. If the sync works, you will have then isolated the problem to third party software and you can uninstall and then reinstall the offending program. Doct to Go is always a prime suspect in cases like this.

If you continue to have problems, copy and paste your hotsync log into a post here so I can have a look and see if that gives me any more information about what might be wrong.

Thanks Jim.

I did a reset and set docs-to-go to "do nothing" and still get stuck on synchronizing documents. The palm says "the connection between your handheld and the desktop was lost. Some ofyour data was NOT backed up. Please check your setup and try again"

My log is attached - says complete with no errors.

The hotsync log shows the hotsync process is never really starting - that's why it shows no errors. I don't know if this what you have already done but you should go to Control Panel and remove the Palm dsektop software. You should then reinstall from your original CD. It sounds like the USB drivers have gotten corrupted and a complete uninstall/reinstall should fix the problem.

I found this on another forum. If you are using a Dell laptop with a port replicator, make sure you are not plugged into the port replicator. I had this same issue with my T3, and once I plugged it into a USB hub instead of the port replicator, all was fine.

Thanks all!

problem solved. I had multiple user names and neither was defined so hot sync became interrupted.

Thanks for the help.
Jim
