Alright...
I am trying to load a movie clip from a digital camera (which is on a burnt disk now) onto my palm hand held t/x. Now whenever I try and do this in palm quick install or in documents to go it freezes. Now am I going about this the right way? Also, how can a guy load songs onto his hand held??

Any information, answers or hints would be greatly appreciated

A 1GB video will take about 45 minutes to sync.......yes it's that slow and if it's bigger then longer then the 45 minutes.

When transferring video - it's better to use a card reader/writer then hot sync. The bottle neck comes in the form of the processor not being able to handle the sync as fast as you might think.

well...when I click on the hot sync on the computer it says hot sync is not responding and a window pop ups and has two options end now (and i forget the other one..but it's like view report or something similar to that), and it's only 221MB. Is this card reader thing your talking about an adapter that plugs into a USB port in my computer and I can put my SD card into it???

Not responding is a common "alert" when doing what you describe.......221MB will still take up to 20 minutes.

SD Card reader is about $20 and does plug into your USB port - typically it will read more than one type of memory card.

I went out and bought one of those SD Card reader and it works perfectly now...except when I transfer this video to my SD card (using the SD reader) my palm pilot will acknowledge that there is 221mb of that card being used up, but it won't acknowledge that the folder the video is in even exists. If you follow what I'm saying. Now is it maybe the format the video is in??? Is there a way to change that???

Any leads, or tidbits of information would help

thanks

It is my understanding that movies do need to be converted into a palm friendly format. Personally I use pocket dvd studio and watch it with MM player.

Action49 is correct here's what you do:

Create the file in the Palm Desktop as you did previously and slate it for installation to the SD Card or Internal Memory.

Then go grab the file from the folder(s) and move them to the SD card in the card reader being certain to put it in the DCIM directory on the SD card. This is the default "path" on the card for Video (pretty sure). Once it's created it will have a PDB file extension - again I'm pretty sure.

I've never been a user of video on a Palm so if someone else can chime in and confirm or correct the path locations and the file extension - feel free.

Depending on the camera, it might already save video in a format you can play with TCPMP. (Mine saves in .mov format.) I don't know if the Media app can look in folders other than /DCIM--if not, put the video in that folder. (TCPMP can navigate anywhere on the card.)

In HotSync terms, 221MB is enormous.

Just to keep everyone posted I just downloaded pocket dvd studio I am trying to figure out how to use it and formate the file into the "palm friendly format" (what formate that is I haven't been able to figure that out yet)...Another task I have been trying to accomplish is get music onto my palm and so far unsuccessful...any tips or information would be appreciated

Use your card reader to put mp3's, OGG's, .mov's etc. onto your SD card. TCPMP (freeware, for audio and/or video files) can navigate to anywhere on the card to find them. TCPMP is also the undisputable best video player for the TX in my opinion as it will play MANY different video formats, is very adjustable as to how it fills the screen regardless of your video's formatting and much more. You can even speed up or slow down the audio with respect to video to synchronize the two in the event that the are not in time with each other. This happened a lot with me until I found a better A/V encoder.

I use TCPMP v0.71 since 0.72 does not sound any alarms that are scheduled to ring while I am watching a movie.

Also, you need something like FileZ (freeware) to see what is actually on your card, where it is, and delete it or move it etc. The TX does not come with any way to see what is on your SD card other than any Programs (.prc files) that are on the card.
