I'm having a little bit of an issue...

If I make a phone call from my hotspot, and then leave my hot spot, im dropping the call immediately, is anyone else having this problem with their 8320?

I'm having the same issues. I've read that this might be an issue in CA until Oct 22, can't remember the source of that so don't quote me.

That happened on my very first test call. The EDGE to UMA works seamlessly, tiny tiny little click, but it was great. But when I tested a call the other way around, it dropped it. I'll keep testing and see if it's a constant issue. If so, I'm calling TMO.

Hey there the system is set up to hand you from wifi to tower without dropping as well as from tower to wifi. If you are having a problem with this call customer care and they will put in a trouble ticket on this issue. At this level the technicians will pick up and find if there are any issues. Each time this happens it is ok to call in to cc to let them know. The more they hear about an issue the quicker a technician will be sent out to check it out. Question for you though. Do you have a router from T-Mobile or are you using one that you had already?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i have the tmobile linksys router, and its not handing off to gsm, but I can go from gsm to uma no problem

i tested this one night this week. I called the hubby and walked into WiFi and out. He said he could hear the switch just barely as i moved from edge to uma and back again.

I am in FL - and i use my own linksys n router

Have you tried using your 8320 at home, or in some other surrounding? In Options there are settings under tne heading Wi-Fi Connections and you should open up the Manage Connection icon and make sure that the setting are compatible with your needs. My 8320 does a great job of switching back and forth from our Airport Express to the T-Mobile signal.

Dave,

I tried to connect to my Airport Extreme and had no trouble connecting, but the call would drop a few seconds into it. I went and bought the tmobile router and it seems to work ok, but the handoff between the two is unstable. I am also able to connect to my parents verzizon fios router but the calls are dropping every time. I looked where you said to but I dont see anything I can change to fix it, any suggestions?

Thanks

Tim

Het Tim,

Up front disclaimer. (A) I went to art school (B) I graduated with a BFA in painting in 1977. This little bit of background information should tell you that anything I suggest has a high probability of being complete nonsense.

In Options go to the Mobile Networks. You will see Data Services, which should be on; then Connection Preference. I ended up using the Wi-Fi Preferred setting. Your 8320 should be set for TMo as the Network and you want it to be Automatic. That seemed to work best for me. Have you tried resetting the device by removing and reinserting it's battery? Any older 3rd party apps?

Good luck!

Dave
