Hot rumor: The Nokia N8 with Symbian^3

In real world every day storage terms it went from between 20-30M free, to 40-45M.

Is it enough? Subjective call. Is it more manageable? Absolutely.

It would have been buggy and the biggest complaints would still have been there.

Well not entirely, but could be done by either letterboxing or perhaps interpolation on a much higher res screen? Say... 1280 x 720? Maybe I should clarify with an "n900-esque screen?"

... did you actually read the Intomobile link? The one where Qualcomms CEO confirmed that there will be Symbian phone with Snapdragon this year.

Anyone else worried about the loss of buttons? Green call and Red end are gone.

* 680mhz processor means omap3 instead of snapdragon. google up the differences. N900 uses same processor, so some hacking could overclock it.

* Not a big deal to me.

* China needs stylus for handwriting support.

I wonder who gets to decide what looks modern vs what looks outdated. I don't see how you can get away from the subjectivity in all of this. Personally I like minimalistic designs, but others like things more flashy. A good example of this is the threads called "show me your homescreen". I think some people's homescreens are tacky and cluttered, but then again that's just me. I'm not saying anyone is wrong for thinking Nokia's OS is "outdated", but I wonder who exactly gets to decide what all of these terms mean.

Nah. In the cell phone world, you get 6 months before something better is out. After 12 months, something significantly better is out and the original high end is at least ~25% cheaper.

Given the majority of the requirements I don't really see upgradability in the cards (where you gonna put an HDMI output on an N97 Mini?) but it's possible certain aspects could be introduced (multiple home screens could be possible).

I'd say they already answered your list (at least as much as they're ever going to) with Symbian^2 aka N97 v20 and N97 Mini. Doubt the 5800 ever sees it.

'Cause 1) Symbian Foundation is still working on it and 2) Symbian^4 is the major break from backwards compatibility with s60, etc.

What made you think it only had b/g? Some spec sheet from over 5 months ago? LOL. The FCC is the real deal. So much for incorrect leaks...I wonder what other things have improved...

That's a super ambitious resolution but it would be a terrible waste on a 3.5" screen. If they ever start thinking bigger tho, I'm all for it

Yeah, which AIR should be going out to other platforms as well (maybe way later). Actually, it's not a company's decision to support HTML5, but the browser. Since most of the mobile browsers are built on WebKit, which supports open standards, and HTML5 is an open standard, the browser gets updated to support the standards. Someone who doesn't use WebKit is MS with their IE browser, which is proprietary.

Wow, lol. You did read that MS and Adobe are working together to get a plug-in for WM7 right? Why didn't Android have native Flash out-of-the-box?
Why didn't WebOS have it as well? It's not that the companies don't want it.
The product isn't even out of Beta, maybe even Alpha phase.
Everyone, but Apple, is in the Open Project to get native Flash support in their mobile OS/browser.

Because I'm like most people here; a phone whore. :hehehe:

The E72 isn't all bad, but, the ridiculously low amount of available RAM is very limiting. Trying to run Opera Mini is an extremely frustrating/hilarious experience.

I have seen that .. that may be only for auto focus asist light in low light environment , same as N82 .. I hope I am wrong though. What's up with these unremovable built-in battery. Now why they need to go to that route. Also this does not seem to have any memory card slot as well . We should wait for official news and then see..

I believe it lets you pick from running (core) apps and frozen (3rd party) apps. To the average user, there should be little/no difference.
