lol You may be right

I don't understand why they don't make another Meamo phone I had a lot of fun using the N900 it's so easy and awesome when it comes to multitasking. If it was just a little thinner..

It most certainly is not.

It's the first Symbian device where QT is going to be included as a top level widget set for building applications. As such, it's a pretty radical departure from ^1, and it creates the potential for all sorts of new and exciting bugs.

But *everyone* knows how well Nokia does software QA, so there's probably nothing to worry about. This phone is going to be as stable as a house of cards built on the wing of an airplane that's rolling for a takeoff.

I'll give Nokia that; they do make great camera phones. I just wish they weren't so awful with software.

Smart phones are pretty much all about software now, so Nokia, when it comes to the gotta-have-it-premium devices is up s***'s creek. It's also going to be hell on their margins. Like the Russian reviewer on the site said: the only remaining card Nokia has to play is, the price point. They'll cut and cut, in order to maintain market share.

They can still rule the roost in budget devices, I guess; unfortunately, those types of phones hold no interest to people like us on this forum: tech nerds.

Reaching to the top left corner is harder than reaching to the top right corner :befuddled unless you primarily use the phone in your left hand.

That is actually a very good idea. May not need the best and brightest people but will be good to have the most aggressive folks who demands the best - probably make $1000 phones with super specs. :2thumbs:

I got it because the price was right and I was curious to give it a shot. I figured if I didn't like it, I'd flip it and use that money for an android phone.

After two weeks, I can safely say that I'm not going to be selling it anytime soon. I honestly haven't liked a phone this much since my first S60 handset.

If messaging is your priority, you can't do better than a BB. And if you add Opera Mini into the mix, it's a much better web browsing device than the E71/2 (from personal experience).

Yeah, I've found other ways to build it. I wasn't really sure how the whole build process worked at that state. I'm still trying to get the key mappings working though..

I hate to say it, but "it depends".

Yes, most code is going to have to be retouched in some form or another. If someone was writing "optimized' symbian code, that didn't touch Open C/C++ (and I don't know of anyone outside Nokia using that, but I'm not exactly current on that stuff) then that person is going to have a lot of code to rewrite.

The real tough part is going to be porting the UI. Moving from AVKON to QT is not going to be trivial. Additionally, ^4 is going to implement a new UI paradigm (if someone leaves your app, you have to catch that signal and save state and exit, the new "back" button). It's a lot of new logic/code to add.

Wouldnt be surprised if this was leaked intentionally today to get attention away from samsung and htc-they both dropped some HD bombshells too. This has my full attention over those two though ;(

looks like 720p and hdmi will just be standard features of high end phones this year though.

They keep saying all the right things but I don't think that they'll be so quick to jump into bed together. Let's keep in mind that they went to war with each other for an entire decade

No flash has native support in N900 . you can run flash games, application , etc from folders as well as from web and your right about not able to upgrade flash . This is due to adobe disabling, the browser is unrecognized and/or maemo OS is preventing from update to prevent any system corruption. Lets take Chrome browser , its still officially not recognized by adobe site but it still integrated flash in it.
