Hot Fuzz

its worth buying, problem was alot of the jokes were shown in the trailer so werent that funny in the cinema. But there were some hilarious stuff, gets better from the middle inwarRAB. ending is great

it wasnt better than shaun, it was different

Well, contrary to ruddiger's analysis, I think it's an interesting question. :)

You mean like

Cooper
Porter
Turner
Prosser
Hatcher
Fisher
Walker
Thatcher
Weaver
Roper
Tiller
Messenger
Staker
Treacher
Cocker
Blower
Draper
and
Reaper?

I reckon it's probably to do with invoking the image of a traditional close-knit country community. These types of names are traditionally associated with crafts or trades
e.g.
Cooper = barrel maker
Porter = doorkeeper
Turner = lathe worker
Walker = a person who walks on damp raw cloth in order to thicken it.
Thatcher = person who thatches roofs
Weaver = weaver
Draper = maker or seller of woolen cloth

The similar sounding names give a sense of Simon Pegg's character being an outsider.
Also, being associated with mundane worldly activities they contrast with his other-worldly name, Angel, and also with the name of the other guy who was onto the crooks - the reporter Tim Messenger ('angel' means 'messenger').

Really; some people don't like to think too much about films! They just want some entertainment. I think it's sometimes interesting to appreciate the skill and work of the writers & film makers. :p

its not as good as Shaun but not far off. I've read in many places though that the extra's on the dvd are absolutely top notch.

I think it's as good as Shaun - very funny!

But, it's far gorier than the 15 rating would imply. I love that personally, but just a warning if you're squeamish at all. :D

I thought Hot Fuzz was brilliant, i will be getting it on DVD however it didn't have the 'thing' that Shaun had that made it better than most over spoof films (i have no idea what the thing is but HF was missing something...).

Agree, there was something that instantly made Shaun one of my all-time favourite films that Hot Fuzz didn't have, but it's still a very enjoyable and really funny movie. Perhaps it's just that I have more of an appreciation for Zombie movies than the action genre.

The extras were being made at my old job in a post house. I met Edgar and he was a nice guy. I spent a lot of time chatting to his editor who showed me a list of the extras and it is indeed jam packed. I also saw some of the extras which were cut for the DVD due to legal reasons (including a section aboout cate blantchet who appears in the film.) GOOD TIMES. Lots of good extras, the DVD is worth a buy thats for sure

Amazing value indeed. Enjoying it so far - the outtakes and 'Hot Funk' are hilarious but the deleted scenes are mostly alternative or longer takes of what's in the movie which is disappointing considering they apparently shot loaRAB of 'extraneous' material.

Most disappointing film I've seen for years. Not since Jackie Brown have I so looked forward to a film only to find out it's shite.
