Hot-Blooded english VA's

He still does voice work, he just doesn't do much anime nowadays, he does more pre-lay work, because it pays more. This why asked if we are counting just voice actors who do anime, considering there tons of good VAs who don't do anime because of the low pay.
 
I dunno, being the voice of Wolverine, exclusively, for the past 5 years, will go down as one of his most important roles, as important as his anime roles.

See the problem with comparing English voice acting to Japanese voice acting, is otakus almost always just compare English anime dubs to the Japanese work, which completely ignores the pre-lay voice acting done and ignores the fact the dubbing process itself can affect a voice actors performance.

That's why voice actors move to LA not from it, to get more pre-lay work.
 
Yeah, but the name Steven Blum will always be synonymous with anime dubs. He's the lead role in both Shinichiro Watanabe masterpieces. If anything, I'd say American animation comes third after anime dubs and video games for what he's known for. Then comes TOM, since I consider Toonami its own category, and, finally, advertisements.
 
Of course Wolverine is more famous in North America then Spike or Roger Smith.

Regardless what he is known for, it seems likely in the future he will be doing far more pre-lay work then anime dubbing in the future, because pre-lay work earns far more money and pre-lay cartoons are far more likely to be on TV nowadays anyway. Not mention the animated DTVs that come out in recent years. It seems way better to be doing pre-lay work then dubbing anime, career wise, especially now.

Also true. But he'll also continue to do many video games, both dubs and originals, as they also pay better than anime, and he's already done lots of them, including Wolverine in some.
 
Well Wolverine was in 3 successful Hollywood movies, with his spin off movie coming out soon and Hollywood will always be more powerful anime in North America.

But doing video games is still not doing anime in future. Blum is likely not be doing anime in the future, that's the point.

Again this brings me back to my main point, there are lots of voice actors in the English speaking world who won't do anime because of the low pay, so a comparison between English voice acting and Japanese voice acting doesn't work if you don't factor in the voice actors who don't do anime.

'Nuff said....Unless David Hayter has ever actually voice acted in an anime. I'm not sure, but if he has, he is automatically epic for whatever character he voice acted, by default.

Oh, I know, I was just saying that he will be doing more than just American animation, and that some video games will be dubs.

Yeah, and I wasn't making that comparison...
 
Yeah, he was basically keeping him down with all of his life force. It would have been a more heroic ending if he had died there, but then Goku saves his ass.

Still, I loved that moment just for the fact that it made one of the much weaker fighters useful, for once. One reason for why I liked Dragon Ball significantly better than DBZ was because most of the side-characters were actaully useful, and we got to see more of their personalities. However, in DBZ, they basically made it so that everybody except for the Saiyans, and the main villains of the arc, were completely useless, and not worth giving any screen-time to. It was nice to see Tien make a stand and actually show some signicance after such a long time. And Kurama voice acting for him in the dub only made it sound all the more epic.

Although, I have actually seen that scene subbed, and I must say that his original voice actor really brought out his character much better than the dub. Its a shame that he passed away a couple of years ago.
