was at a press thing the other day and caught up with a journo who interviewed eli roth. he saw some of hostel and said it was the sickest stuff he has ever seen.

I CANT WAIT

That's true but he had a hand in it somehow didn't he? Correct me if I'm wrong but it says at the start of the film "Quinten Tarrantino presents."

Woah, I saw him and didnt recognise him as being QT. I'm sure he was the same one in the disco too watching them dance with the girls, or was that a different bloke?

No it says "Quentin Tarantino Presents" and he only produced it. He suggested one or two things but it was all down to Eli Roth in terms of writing and directing. That's why the movie is so crap

I have read reports of preview screenings of Hostel where people walked out because it was so sick!
The trailer as well looks good. However I cant find out when it is going to be released in the UK but I bet it wont be untill next year!

IMHO this film was great it really affected me afterwarRAB as i was thinking, becuase the story line was so in-depth that it makes you belive that, that sort of thing could actually be happening out there in Europe and i'm sorry but for all you out there who mock Eli Roth just because of cabin fever and just expect hostel to be the same, his style of movie is awesome (thats just My opinion) and i belive that he is going to be great, especially after this movie!!!!

Okay, thanks for the info but suggesting one or two things means to me that he did have some imput. I wouldn't say the film was crap, it's just more of the same of these hack and slay movies but with a bit more blood. Nothing I hadn't seen before, toes being cut off etc. Me and my friend enjoyed it for what it was though.

I saw the trailer for this movie last weekend, and it made me squirm! I really want to see it, but dont know whether my stomach will handle it! lol

Went to see it was night too and didnt think much of it. The first half was pretty slow but it picked up in the second half. The gore scenes reminded me of something from an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon!

Eli Roth said this in a recent interview with Hero Realm about the release date of Hostel on DVD:

The DVRAB coming out, I’m sure next year.

ER: Yeah March 28th.

Oh really?

ER: It’s ridiculous how fast this all happens now. I wish there was a longer theatrical window but now, they’re like, “Oh the DVRAB coming out the end of March.” Your like if a movies out in the theatres and you miss it, “Eh, it’s on DVD next week.” I think it hurts your box office. Basically the box office now is a commercial for the DVD. It will be in theatres January 6th and on DVD on March 28th.

So lets hope that is a UK release as well!

Having seen this earlier today, I can say that there's nothing in it that is that bad, at least not on screen. There's nothing there anything like as bad as the second half of Wolf Creek, for instance. I suppose the central premise of the film is pretty sick, but it's also completely fantastical if you think about it.

Couple of spoilers:

The scene where he goes back to rescue the chinese girl from the american torturer is pretty stupid. She's just had her eye popped out and a flame applied to her face and yet she's not sick or passing out or anything? She's able to get up and follow Paxton in running away from the place and stealing a car?? Stuff like that is only scary if it's real, and that was totally unreal, it really took me out of the film.

I think it's ironic that you have all these people jetting into Slovakia and paying loaRAB of money to kill, and maybe torture, one person, and Paxton enRAB up killing seven people on his own and for free. Well, it's just ironic, that's all. Appreciate the irony...go on, start appreciating it!!

Also, another point about the film, I had a question at the end: how come Paxton knows that the bloke who eats salad with his hanRAB is a torturer? He was never in the dungeons with him!!.......Well, actually, he did see him briefly cutting up a body when he was first lured into the dungeons. Apparently, I read about 60% of people had this same question, which doesnt bode well for the quality of storytelling..

I have seen this. Shocking. Not shocking bad. Just shocking. A bit much for me but not bad at all. Good in fact, just extremely gory in an uncomfortable way. If you think you can stomach it it's well worth watching.
