Hostel

Hostel was overhyped rubbish, the trailers made it out to be the next Saw, but what we actually got was a mixture of Eurotrip with crappy torture scenes. Personally, i didn't even think it was that violent, the majority of the stuff seemed to happen off screen. If it weren't for the truly abysmal 'Lady in the Water' (The fame has obviously gone to Shyamalan's head...), 'Hostel' would have been my worst film of 2006.

apparently the sequels been leaked onto the net. I can download torrents so i cant tell you whether the torrent are actually real but apparently they are workprints whatever that means.

I actually thought Hostel was alright but I do think it was over hyped as I was disappointed by the lack of violence and scarey moments in it. I will however be going to see Hostel 2 when it is released at the end of June!
I found this interview on Moviehole with Eli Roth talking about Hostel 2:

"Eli Roth has evolved as one of Hollywood

The good guy fleed torture-central, went straight to the train station, managed to escape on the train that happened to be leaving and, by complete coincidence, the bad guy was on the same train?! It was idiotic plotting like that that ruined an interesting premise.

I watched it on sky the other week, and although I found it a bit overhyped and I'm not a great fan of gore and prefer atmospheric horror films - it had a couple of redeeming features - displayed to full effect in the sauna scene;)

i enjoyed it too!

what people think that it's totally a gore movie, is their mistake! sure, it was built on this premise, then people see the setup scenes and think it's a waste ..... but that's why they're there!

and there at least two funny moments IN THE ACTUAL TORTURE SCENES!!!! yes, funny ..... i won't spoil them for you:D

I think we'd all agree it's not supposed to be a full on gore movie. The sad thing about it is that any psychological depth is ruined by unlikeable characters, badly acted. This on top of the fact that Eli Roth clearly can't decide what type of film he actually wants it to be. As for there being funny scenes well possibly but let's be fair when your resorting to making the audience snigger with your torture scene I would argue that your not doing your job properly in scaring them

I've just finished watching it.

Pretty much the same as the first but with female victims rather than male and a more sexual aspect to the violence.

Overall i enjoyed it although i think they will probably end up making a few cuts from the workprint before they release it in cinemas.

Does it go into the business/operational side of the Hostel more? There had been hints it would, and that's the part that would interest me; seeing how it might actually work.

well it shows u how they get the girls and how rich ppl 'bid ' on them............its quite interesting to watch.i normally dont find films scary at home.but i got tense watchin it with the lights off lol
