I remember that Morton and Jankel are former pop video directors, but that didn't prevent Edgar Wright, Spike Jonze and (IMO) McG from directing decent movies.

The problem with Mario Brothers was that the pair had little affinity with the source material and turned what should've been a colourful mushroom-filled workd into a dark and grim 80s dystopia because that's all they knew (cf Max Headroom pilot).

Still - claws out, Bob, eh?! :D
 
John Leguizamo's dissed the movie as well. 14 years after going to see it I STILL want my money back. :mad:

(Tragic footnote: One of the movie's writers was eaten by a shark a few years later.)
