horses and the wind..............?

Speaking as someone who lives somewhere /very/ windy (30mph wind with 50mph gusts are a GOOD day around here), he should be just fine. I've bought horses from other places, and they all do just fine. Now, the noise the wind makes when it hits a building just right, or a tarp flapping, or the wind kicking up a good dust cloud could scare him, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it did. But he'll get used to it, and he'll be just fine ;) If he's scared, he just needs to tough it out and not be a chicken :p
 
SOOO I may be purchasing a Trakhener gelding, and am currious about how he will act when he comes to his new WINDY home. It is usually always windy here.
It is rarely windy where he is....how do you think he will react?

Depends on his temperament. There are some horses who get very worked up over the wind, and there are others who don't mind it. In general, hot horses tend to get more upset at it, but there's always quiet ones who hate wind and hot ones who don't care.

He'll probably be OK with it- he has to have experienced wind at some point in his life!
 
He might be a little nervous at first because of the smells blowing in the wind but he should get used to it... I know my gelding gets restless if its windy.
 
He's going to bounce and play and be silly and spooky to begin with. Then he's going to be grouchy and cantankerous for awhile. Then he'll level out and ignore most of it - unless a storm's coming in.

Most horses get used to the wind. A few reactors will keep you on your toes the rest of their lives, but most get over it.
