what is the listed horsepower of a stock 2009 ultra ( i did install v&h oval slip ons, but dont believe that it made much difference) i have looked on the hd website but it is not published, just curious.

Harley doesn't list it because no one would buy one. I know it's somewhere in the low 60's.

Harley is funny about publishing horsepower numbers. They like to play the inches vs CC's as well as the horsepower vs torque game. Most of their advertised numbers usually equate to a tad less than the displacement. 96 inchers make 92 ft lbs and the 103 inchers make 102 or there abouts foot pounds of torque. Which makes sense sense if you think about it, thats the same torque figures that the mighty Hayabusa's make. It makes for good advertising brochures. People do post dyno sheets every now and then. Maybe a search for "dyno" might yield some answers.

Allegedly 66.4 horsepower at 4,900 rpm and torque is 78.5 at 3,600 rpm. This according to Rider Magazine's testing

I'd say that's about right. When the 96" first came out a couple mags did testing. I took an average of 5 or 6 tests. Came out to 66hp/80tq.

Did you think that you would make any gains from just changing the pipes?

If you want gain, you will have to change the A/C to a stage 1 and then buy a different Fuel Managment System like a Power Commander V unit from Fuel Moto who is a site sponsor.

Then you will have gain and your bike will run not quite as hot, but you won't have as good as gas milage, but it will run much better.
