Horror and Thriller - Differences???

I don't understand the difference between them?? They're both the same to me!

Can somebody explain the differences??

anything supernatural is normaly horror anything that is just serial killers is thriller. examples are alien and friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street are horror but silence of the lambs and back from hell (well i think at least) are thrillers

The genres tend to voerlap these days, but it's basically the difference between the type of tension they create.

Thrillers keep you on the edge of your seat

Horrors make you jump out of your seat.

Simplistic but thats the way it I have always viewed it.

For my Media Studies A-level course I studied Thriller in detail. Basically Thriller is old gangster films such as Ruby, and newer versions are Snatch, LA Confidential or Lock Stock.
