Thank you for that idea! I am thinking green clay dust is like what you use when you are trying to make clay?? I am not sure, haha.

I'm counting on less wrinkles too. We have to have some benefits from this oil factory.

I use Maybelline Oil Free liquid foundation and the shine free powder.

The part I said about the Vit E oil sounRAB strange I know. Why put oil on an oily face. A friend mentioned it to me and said something about it causes your face to produce less oil because oil is already there. Either pill or the actual oil itself is supposed to work.

Let's hope some others can give us some ideas.

I am completely fed up with my oily skin. I am 25 and have just reached the age in my life where I have stopped getting horrible acne outbreaks. I have acne scars that I am very self-conscious of and I have decided if my skin was not so dang oily I could at least be some-what comfortable in my own skin for once. I have tried EVERYTHING! I have decided that if I wash my face twice a day it makes it even more oily and annoyed. I went to my doc and she said to moisturize and that perhaps my skin was making up for the lack of moisture (I found that very hard to believe) so I tried it...it made it worse. I even have started to moisturize with an oil free, "reduce your oil" moisturizer only once a week and it makes my skin worse than an oil slick. It is so bad that my face looks wet by the time I get home in the afternoon. I have to use 3 of those oil blotters and in an hour my skin is oily again. What do you all suggest? Does anyone else there have the same problem? Thanks so much.

im sure you have seen this at any store, its called queen helen mint julep mask. its a clay mask and it works wonders for oily skin. Any clay mask is good for oily skin but i like this one the best and its not exspensive. Try it out...

Try applying Oxy 5 at bedtime, and clense with a detergent clenser rather than bar soap.

Carry some Wet Ones around with you so you can wipe your face over during the day

I use the matte foundation that comes in a little jar from Maybelline. I have found any other make up makes it sooo much worse. Have you or anyone else tried mineral makeup? I am wondering if it can help with oily and problematic skin. I am definitely hoping to have fewer wrinkles...I have had every other problem with my skin, I deserve something good to happen to it! I may have to try the Vit E thing, but it sounRAB a lot like what my doc said about moisturizing and that doesn't help. Arg...having problematic skin is horrible!

Yes, I have heard of Queen Helene I have used their lotion products. I will definitely try the clay mask!! Thanks so much to everyone for all of the suggestions!

I also have really oily skin, for some odd reason. A recent attempt at eliminating the issue has yielded a little success. A friend sent me a can of Avon-brand 'goddess' powder, or something like that. It's one of those skin-softening cosmetic powders. I apply it to my entire face with a blush brush and it not only leaves my skin feeling pleasantly dry, but also wonderfully smooth. This powder also works in my favor because I love that ghostly-pale look and this white powder makes me look very pale. If this isn't your look, maybe you can try something else. Baby powder would probably work well too.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that. The wet ones wont work though because I wear foundation.

Sillygrl, I am 41 years old and have always had oily skin.

Over the past few months, it has gotten worse.

I read on this board somewhere about wiping your makeup off with 70% alcohol and then wash with a face cleanser. This is supposed to remove the make, open the pores, and then allow the cleanser to deep clean your face.

Okay, I'm thinking the alcohol will definately help with the oil. So far, it's actually a little worse but I am going to give it a few more days because my face IS actually cleaner, just still very oily.

Someone also suggested Vit. E oil pills or rubbed into the face. That may be my next step.

I'm like you and wear foundation (oil-free) so I cannot constantly wipe my face. I use powder, but that only lasts so long.

Good luck in your search. I will keep checking for others ideas.

I purchased a clay mask over the weekend that is supposed to purge the pores and absorb excess oil.

I've used it once according to the directions and the oil on my face was greatly reduced. On a normal day, I powder anywhere from to to 5 times per day. This weekend, I only had to powder once each day. I guess it's working.

The draw back is, I guess the mask is pulling out other impurties too. I now have 3 new pimples that were not there before.

Sillygrl, I just found this recipe for oily complexions.

I am going to give it a try and thought I would pass it on to you too.

2 teaspoons of rosemary honey, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of green clay dust. Mis together and apply to face and neck for 20 minutes. Rinse off with water and lemon juice. Repeat once a week.

My only problem is figuring out what green clay dust is and where to get it.

Let me know if you try it and if it works. I will do the same.

Those are good ideas and I am ALWAYS up for new things to try. My mom said I am lucky that I have oily skin as did she, because I will have less wrinkles! She is ten years older than her sister and has SIGNIFICANTLY less wrinkles and in all accuality looks YOUNGER than my aunt...weird. I will try the alcohol thing, what kind of foundation do you wear?

I have extremely oily skin on my back, chest, neck, face, scalp, and even my ears, they all become so oily thats it is uncomfortable to wear tight clothing, or if i'm doing strenuous exercise, which i try to limit.

What would one suggest for this? Creams, powders, lotions, scrubs, washes?

It is mainly just the top part of my chest and upwarRAB, ive had this oily skin for the past ten or so years, and have only just been told by one of my frienRAB that she has oily skin, but on her face and uses squeezed lemon juice.

Im thinking if there was a great powder of some sort which would absorb the oil around my neck, chest and shoulders then that would be great.

I've tried baby powder before but it doesn't do anything, it makes me more uncomfortable whilst wearing clothing - shirts/jumpers, and i hate cold weather, it's the worst for my oily skin, feels horrible.

Ill use some of the advice, but i was also hoping inexpensive remedies to control the oil, or simple ones, as i shower each day, and usually twice a day and it becomes very draining.

I have also heard that lack of sleep also causes the skin to become oily, reading up on some stuff through the net and personally noticing this.

I'm in my 40's and have had oily skin most of my life. I do have fewer wrinkles than others :) but it's been difficult to control. The BEST products I have found, and they are wonderful, are Neova purifying facial cleanser and Neova illuminting mask. I order them over the internet. They are a little expensive, but the purifying cleanser lasts forever. I use it twice a day. The mask I use occasionally. Alcohol will probably only dry your skin but do nothing for the oil.
