In Jan. of 2007 I had a fusion of my L5 and S1. My lower back healed from the surgery, however I was left with my left leg shorter than my right. Of course, my legs were still the same size, but the way my body was altered, my left leg was made shorter. I went to see a Chiropractor almost a year ago to see what he could do to help me.

He did an adjustment on me, and miraculously my legs were even, and my body felt, for the first time in almost 3 years, aligned!! Of course, as Chiropractors love to do, he had me come back the next day for another adjustment. This went on for about 3 more adjustments.

What happened essentially was that my right leg became a tad bit shorter after the latter adjustments, and my right hip become rotated inwarRAB. This has caused the whole right side of my upper body to twist outward, and is VERY miserable, and painful to sit. I feel the pull from my face/neck down to my hip area.

I tried ROLFing, physical therpay, stretching, exercise... nothing will get my body at least back to where it was pre chiropractor. I even tried a 2nd chiropractor and his adjustments did nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Any ideas on what to do? I am very much in pain.

this is why I don't like chiros. Have you gone back to your surgeon? Are you in pain management right now? My thought would be that you need to return to your surgeon and come clean on what happened and see what he can recommend. Rght now that is your best chance to see if this can be resolved.

I am sooo sorry for the pain that you are under. I hope that you can get yourself and this issue striaghtened out

I agree with b&p....I dislike chiropractors unless recommended by an ortho or neuro. They can do so much damage with their "adjustments". Nobody who has had spinal surgery or has spinal issues such as a bad disc should allow a chiro to work on them. I know that there are a few chiro's who understand the spine and will not make those so-called adjustments and kudo's to them!

I'm really sorry this happened and is causing you so much pain. Do call for an appt with your surgeon and tell him what happened. Hopefully, this is something minor and he can get your pain calmed down without a lot of trouble.

Please let us know how you are doing.

thanks for the reply... I just made an appt w my surgeon today. I do intend to be fully honest. I mean, whats the worst my surgeon can do? tell me how bad chiros are!Anyway, the pain is only half of it. The other issue is just the awkwardness of sitting, walking, and the way my clothes fit even. My body is so out of whack.

I hope you will let us know what the doctor tells you. If he recommenRAB surgery, be sure to get at least one more opinion!

I have never liked to go to a Chiropractic Dr. They scare me. I had a 360 l-4 and l-5 and s-1, they put in a cadaver bone too. It fractured and they went back in a put in a cage. That was in 2008. Now I have grinding and popping even when Im not moving? Sorry, Good luck. Julie :)
