Hooking a headphone jack to a speaker?

i got an old pair of head phones, and i touch them to a speaker i want to hook it up to and i got a little sound but it wont stay on its a little 40-100w car speaker. how can i make the speaker work with the head phone cord (on side has copper and blue wire the other has copper and red wire)

also how can i get full power to this speaker to make it louder? would i need a small amp?
