hookin up power wire to battery?

okay i found the firewall hole in my 92 celica, but when i send it threw, it just goes into the side tire well. i can see it and all the other wires go threw but i have no idea where they go after that. its too dark even with a light. so i somehow pulled the wire threw there and back out the side where the door closes. then i pulled it over into the engine so i can hook it up. is this safe because i positioned and made sure the wires are not snapped by the hood or door at all. even with them closed i can see the wire is safely hidden and works. is this okay.
 
probaby ok-make sure you have an inline fuse somewhere along the wire---but why didn't you just hook it up to the accessory terminal on the back of your ignition switch??that way when the ignition is off so is the power to the unit--very safe,and it has a position to use when engine is off
 
I'm having a hard time understanding exactly where the wire is, but if it's going to be exposed to the environment you might want to consider heat shrink and wire tubing.

You could also just drill a hole in your firewall that goes directly into the cabin.
