L Leut. Dan Taylor New member Sep 22, 2009 #2 According to Hooke's law, an ideal spring (what you're dealing with) exerts a force that ONLY depends on the extension of the spring, not the length. So as far as you are concerned, the length of the spring has no impact on the force.
