hooked up car audio system?

.im getting engine noise when i start car.tried noise filter.tried running a thin ground from head unit to amp and nothing.unplugged rcas and noise was gone.the battery is in the trunk (factory) so these wires were not run together. have amp rackso they are relatively close back there but i dont think this would have an effect since its such a short distance there.no noise in acc position.what do i do?
 
Check your stereo and amplifier grounds... Make sure they are grounded to straight metal not painted metal or anything.
If that doesnt fix, you may have some bad preouts on your deck
