Honestly. What does PS3 and XBOX360 offer other than slightly better graphics?

When SNES and Genesis replaced the regular NES there was a giant improvement in gameplay, sound, and graphics. Then when the Playstation came it made an even more giant improvement in gameplay and graphics. Then when XBOX and PS2 came their was a marginal improvement in graphics plus XBOX came with a harddrive which was pretty cool. Now with these new systems comeing out I don't see why there is really any reason to buy them since the graphic improvement is really miniscule and there doesent seem to be anything else that was improved. Am I missing something?
 
There not being really innovative IMO. They used the same controller design same everything. They just put it in a different package. Nothing ground breaking at all. Both systems are trying to not just be a video game system but be something more. This is why I don't see myself getting one of them any time soon.
 
better graphics, which is 75% of the console battle.

faster more powerful systems to handle more complex games, more on the screen, better AI, better physics.... etc
 
I always find it funny that nobody gave a shit about innovation until Nintendo started claiming that microsoft and sony didn't innovate enough.
 
Unless there are going to be 25 or more games like Oblivion launched on consoles only that stuff really isnt a factor. Many people have consoles to just play sports games. And AI always sucks. They still dont seem to have anything that cant be played better on a PC.
 
Nah I have been thinking about this when XBOX360 was still months away from being released. At first I was like "Cool this is going to be awesome" but then I realized that it really didnt offer anything better than my regular XBOX did other than Oblivion and slightly better graphics. So I bought a 7900GT instead and played Oblivion in my PC.

- better AI
- better physics
- more content


you could argue that Super Mario World is basically Mario 3 with slightly better graphics... it still makes it a better game in many respects

also you have got to be shitting me when you say the 360/ps3 has slightly better graphics than xbox/ps2... either that or your eyes fucking suck

Elder Scrolls on Xbox (a late generation game with some of the best graphics on the xbox)

-not cost $1200 for a decent gaming rig
-many exclusives (gears of war is better than any PC game i played this year)
-flawless multiplayer implementation
-2-4 player same screen co-op
-less bugs, exploits, hacks, etc

honestly if you life your PC better dont ask us to try to change your mind, its not gonna happen,,, just enjoy your pc and let us enjoy our console
 
Oh giggles!

I would hardly call Nintendo the king of innovation. They got beat at their own game. So they essentially created a new market and dominate it.
