I thought I heard you whistling
When I recapped,
Neck reversed
And then smacked into my ceiling
When I thought I heard you breathing

If the force of snapped threads
Were not enough, could not convince
I thought I heard your voice
When I washed my face and rinsed

I’ve never stepped into there since.

When I cried out
Last night,
Did you see me lying there?
And I thought I saw you laughing
While you twirled your short hair

My honest mind
Cannot conceive
The breath you whisked away from me
When you stepped onto my shoes
And when I thought I saw you breathe
