honest opinion on Digital cameras?

I got me a digital camera, 5 mega pixels. Already thinkg of a upgrade to 10 mega pixels with a 18 x lens. the professional route. I know if the picture does not look good, you can delete it before it gets printed. 10 points for the best answer.
all kinds of digital cameras. photography has been a hobby of mine since 1982. my current memory card @ 5 mega pixels = 903 pictures on just 1, 1gb memory card. if you have a fav. brand please name them.
 
Are you talking about getting a better point-n-shoot? If so, that is not exaclty the professional route, however that all just depends on what you're going to be taking pictures of. 10 mega pixels will deliver very sharp images at least.
